In the 1930’s, not only did DePaul have a football team, but they also hosted their home games at Wrigley Field. Chester Chesney served as the team’s hard-hitting center. He is a Blue Demon football legend. After playing for DePaul for three years, he served in World War II before returning to the states to have an illustrious professional football career for the Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Eastern Army all-star team that beat the New York Giants and the Brooklyn Football Dodgers. He then went on to become a U.S. Congressman, business executive and finally, he is credited with establishing investment banking. He was inducted into the DePaul Hall of Fame in 1978.
