CHARLES STRAIN
ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS (RETIRED)
For over 40 years, Charles Strain dedicated his career to the notion that higher education, when aligned with social justice, can have a deep impact on students and the community. In his role, Strain helped establish many programs and offices that are now integral to the university’s educational experience, including the Steans Center, the undergraduate experiential learning requirement, the university's annual assessment process, the University Center for Writing-based Learning and the Center for Teaching, Learning, & Assessment, now the Center for Teaching and Learning.
