DAVID O. JUSTICE

FORMER DEAN, SCHOOL FOR NEW LEARNING & VICE PRESIDENT, LIFELONG LEARNING AND SUBURBAN CAMPUSES

During his 15-year tenure as dean of the School for New Learning, now School of Continuing and Professional Studies, David O. Justice fostered a welcoming home for adult learners. Under his leadership, the school was recognized internationally as an "intelligent model for adult learning" with innovative programs such as a FIPSE-funded graduate program and the Bridge program. He also grew the university’s Center for Professional Education (CPE) program and extended the college and DePaul's presence in the south and northwest suburbs of Chicago.
[David] was a passionate learner and teacher deeply committed to making education accessible to groups of people for whom it had not been. [He] was a visionary in adult education at a time when universities were not thinking much about adult learners. His impact on adult learning will be felt for years to come.
