ELDRED C. STROBEL

CLASS OF 1947

FORMER DEPARTMENT CHAIR, DRIEHAUS COLLEGE OF BUSINESS

Eldred Strobel served as a member of DePaul’s faculty from 1946 to 1980, chairing the accounting department from 1965 to 1978. He is credited with leading the establishment of the accounting honors program, which is named after him; DePaul’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the national accounting honors society; and, for alumni, the Ledger & Quill, which is one of the largest alumni accounting societies in the country.
[His favorite class to teach was] Introductory Accounting. He loved introducing students to the academic field that meant so very much to him.
