JOHN CULBERT
FORMER DEAN, THE THEATRE SCHOOL
John Culbert joined DePaul in 1988 as an assistant professor and head of the lighting design program in The Theatre School and became dean of the school in 2000. During his time as dean, Culbert fulfilled an important objective for The Theatre School—new facilities. In September 2013, the school moved into its current state-of-the art location on the Lincoln Park Campus. When asked what he is most proud of about his time at DePaul, Culbert shared, "I am most proud of the community we were able to attract, and the creative and nurturing culture we created that engages our students and propels them into their individual futures."
