An active mentor of many current and former DePaul students, Kathleen Rooney is a DePaul professor, the author of 12 books of poetry, fiction and nonfiction, and the founding editor of Rose Metal Press, a nonprofit publisher of literary work in hybrid genres. Rooney is also a founding member of Poems While You Wait, a team of poets and their typewriters who compose commissioned poetry on demand. As a faculty member, Rooney believes that the best is already in everyone, and in the classroom, she works with her students to draw out the best they have to offer and challenges them to share it with the classroom community.
