MARK TURCOTTE (TURTLE MOUNTAIN OJIBWE)

SENIOR LECTURER, DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

Mark Turcotte (Turtle Mountain Ojibwe) is a widely recognized voice in Chicago’s poetry scene. He currently teaches creative writing as visiting assistant professor in English at DePaul. He is committed to elevating Native literature, voices, lives and histories, which includes mentoring and providing support to Native writers across the nation. He mentors many of his former DePaul students and has invited them to read their poetry alongside him at events across the city.
The students who end up in my DePaul classrooms play an important part in shaping the way I perceive and interact with the world. There's no doubt I'm better for it.
