RAY MEYER

Ray Meyer, Blue Demon basketball coach from 1942 to 1984, was a legendary and celebrated figure in DePaul athletics. During his career, 13 of his teams advanced to the NCAA Tournament and seven played in the National Invitational Tournament (NIT). He was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1979 and after retiring, continued to attend DePaul basketball games and provide color commentary on WGN. A stretch of Belden Avenue has also been named “Honorary Ray Meyer Drive" in his honor.
