FORMER CONCERTMASTER, CHICAGO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Violinist and 1955 graduate of the School of Music, Samuel Magad is an internationally recognized figure in the classical music world. Well before enrolling at DePaul, he made his debut at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) at the age of 11. Then following graduation, he returned to the CSO and served as concertmaster for 35 years, playing a major role in the orchestra’s ascent from a reputable ensemble to global musical powerhouse. Magad has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including the DePaul Distinguished Alumnus Award.
