ST. VINCENT DE PAUL & THE VINCENTIANS
Saint Vincent de Paul devoted his life entirely to the alleviation of suffering of the poor, driven by a belief in the God-given dignity of all people. His legacy is carried on today in organizations he organized, nurtured and inspired—the Daughters of Charity, Ladies of Charity and a variety of local Confraternities of Charity. Some would even argue that he invented the concept of the "nonprofit organization." For 125 years, the Vincentian values of inclusivity, personalism and professionalism have shaped DePaul University’s distinctive culture and passion for service-centered education.
